Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre Attack on Titan Collaboration for Holiday Season

In a unexpected partnership that breaks usual predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Adventure Disclosed

According to the official announcement, "A mysterious meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where rumors of prohibited rituals and terrifying changes resonate through the shadows." The narrative features a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a secret group.

The questline concentrates on "bizarre tests and a terrifying foe" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses

The teaser highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the captive, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Extra Material

Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an unique katana alongside several artifacts concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

Third Free Story Update

This patch also brings the game's third complimentary story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature skills: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime franchises. The series previously featured a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
